Julie Hudetz brings both
experience and enthusiasm to the Wenzel Coaching Program. With 10
years of racing experience under her belt, including four years with
the Saturn Cycling Team, Julie has been recognized numerous times as a
strong climber and all around rider.
Introduced to cycling with the
hopes of becoming a triathlete, Julie actually began her pro career
off the road, racing mountain bikes for Team Jamis in 1994 and 1995.
From then on, Julie's racing career has become strongly influenced by
the concepts and tactics of the Wenzels, as both a teammate of
Kendra's in 1996 and under the direction of René during her career
with Team Saturn from 1997-2000.
Julie balances her coach and
racing along with being a mom to her four year-old daughter. After a
nine month hiatus in 1998 during her pregnancy, Julie returned to the
pro peloton just eight weeks after giving birth, and not only
continued her individual success, but helped Team Saturn attain the
title of the world's number one ranked team in 1999.
In her coaching Julie has worked
with beginning racers as well as coached a master woman to a national
championship in the 30-34 age group. The uniqueness of being both a
professional athlete and a mother, coupled with the idea of staying
active and healthy during pregnancy, inspires Julie to use her
experience and knowledge to work with other women athletes (as well as
men) who either have children or would like to start a family. She
also holds a personal trainer certification from the National Council
of Strength and Fitness (NCSF).
Since retiring
from the road racing circuit Julie has ventured into other athletic
endeavors. She now competes in adventure races, running races,
mountain bike races and snowshoe events. In 2002 she won the
Breckenridge 10 mile trail run, and was 2nd at the Colorado
10K Championships in Denver. She was also one of a three-person team
winning both the Boulder Urban Adventure Race and the Kokopelli
Adventure Race. For the 2002/2003 snow-shoe season she has been racing
with the Atlas Snow Shoe team. She will be racing with Team Solomon
USA at the 2003 Raid Gauloises in Kyrgyzstan this June. Her plans for
2003 also include competing in some of the Xterra off-road triathalon
events.
Julie is usually
on the go but almost always has her cell phone with her. She enjoys
coaching and will always make time for her clients. But don’t be
surprised if you call her and she is out for a ride pulling her
daughter behind her!
Julie remains a
student of the sport of cycling and is very familiar with the
philosophies of the Wenzel Coaching Program and feels that she has
learned from the best when it comes to the ins and outs of bike
racing. She looks forward to sharing this wisdom by coaching and
encouraging others in the sport of cycling to help them realize their
full potential as athletes. She can assist you with road racing,
mountain bike racing, running, adventure racing and triathalon
training

"This program is AWESOME!!! Thanks to
Wenzel & my coach, Julie Hudetz, I accomplished all of my goals for
the 2006 season (made it to cat 2) and I can't wait for 2007.
This past racing season is an experience I wouldn't trade for
anything. I know most of the good results would not have been possible
without the training program and Julie's guidance and positive
encouragement since I began training last fall." ~Patria
