Welcome to Wenzel Coaching, I’ll be your coach for the duration of your stay with us.

You have chosen to sign up with one of the best training and coaching programs in the country – CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Over the next days, weeks, months, years your mission is to train for and complete a century ride (or two or three), and I am here to help you with both of those goals.  My name is Landi Saifer, and I will be your coach/camp counselor/support system.

I started training for the Lake Tahoe Century in February of 1998 and have gone on to do numerous other centuries and shorter distance events, so eight years ago I was right where you are today, looking for a coach and a program to get me started. The friendships I made and the experience of achieving an amazing goal made me want to come back and do it over and over again as a coach.  I know how daunting the tasks you have set before you can appear, but you will achieve your goals – and you’ll have FUN!!!!

Your activities over the duration of your stay with us will include:

·         Arts and Crafts: coming up with creative ways to get your training in around school, work and other scheduling issues

·         Proper Water Bottle Training: learning to drink and ride (yes, in California, it is legal to drink water while riding)

·         Advanced Banana Peeling: from remembering to put a banana in your back pocket to peeling it to calculating speed and wind ratios so that when you toss the peel at a passing garbage receptacle you actually hit your mark

·         Hamstring Development: (no, this is not about tying knots around slabs of meat)

·         FUN!!!: this will happen on a daily basis, but will be emphasized on days when you speak with me

As your coach/camp counselor I am committed to helping you to achieve your ultimate goal, assisting you in your training and keeping a smile on your face J.  Please don’t ask me how to make a lariat, though, I never did acquire that particular skill.

As you embark on this incredible journey, remember that you are here to train for and complete a century and to have FUN!!! I will be in my tent on a regular basis and available to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have.

On a more serious note, I have been riding for fitness, health and endurance for 10 years. I have completed numerous centuries, sprint triathlons, and 5k runs, always with an emphasis on fun, personal achievement and support of others.

My coaching style draws on my education and work as an Organizational Psychologist. As a coach I help people to achieve their goals by identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and their inner motivation to succeed. I then guide them to leverage their strengths and correct their weaknesses in order to achieve levels of performance that they previously considered impossible.

My ultimate goal is to help as many people as possible make the transition from occasional rider to confident cyclist.
