Multi-Sport Programs
Whether you are a first time triathlete or an
experienced competitor, your personal Wenzel Triathlon Coach and
training program will help you get to the starting line strong, fit,
injury-free and ready to race. Your Wenzel Coach will help you set
appropriate, achievable goals for your training and competition. For
first timers we focus on developing the necessary endurance and skills
to complete the race safely, comfortably and quickly. For the more
experienced or elite athlete we help you develop more speed and
endurance while focusing on identifying and correcting limiters so
that you can produce your best possible performance.
First Time Triathlete
Olympic and Short distance Triathlon
Long Course (Ironman distance) Triathlon
All triathlon programs are available at the
Semi-Custom and
Custom levels only.
For triathletes wanting to work specifically on their
cycling, Wenzel triathlon coaches can work with our top road coaches
to create a time trial focused program, or consult with you and your
current coach on how to improve your cycling training with your
existing program.
First Time Triathlete:
This program is ideal for people who are preparing for
a single event of sprint or Olympic distance that is still a few
months away or who are getting into triathlon and plan to do several
events. This is a gentle build up program that focuses primarily on
endurance and skills. This program helps you make efficient use of a
small amount of training time.
Olympic and Short Distance Triathlon:
This program is ideal for the athlete with training and
competitive experience who is looking to bump performance up to a
higher level in several events in the coming season, perhaps with one
peak event. This program starts with a generous endurance base and
then focuses on developing speed in the three components plus
transitions. It includes tapers for your target events. This program
helps you make efficient use of your available training time and is
scalable to fit the amount of time you want to devote to your
training. This program can be set-up as a build up targeted on a
single event, or a year round program that prepares you for the event
season and then helps you maintain fitness for a long peak followed by
rest and building up to a higher peak the following year. This program
can include in gym strength training if you choose.
Long Course (Half and Full Ironman distance) Triathlon:

This program is ideal for the athlete who is stepping
up to the ultimate challenge in triathlon. This program can be
adjusted for the first time Ironman who is simply trying to complete
the event or the seasoned competitor who is looking to shave time
compared to previous finishes. Athletes starting this program should
be ready to commit at least 14 hours per week to their training at the
peak. This program can include in-gym strength training if you choose.
